Canada Announces Permanent Residence Applications Fee Increment For 2022

If you are planning to apply for permanent residence, please note that there have been small increments in the fee structure. In order to ensure that your application is successful, it is advisable to keep an eye out for the latest amendments in the immigration formalities.

Permanent residence applications filed after April 30 will now proceed at different fee rates. The Canadian government has increased the permanent residence application fee from 30 April 2022. This increase in fee applies to the economic, permit holders, family, and humanitarian classes.

This increment was certain as in 2020, the Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) increased the fees for permanent residence applications for the first time since 2002 to account for inflation. It was further stipulated that there will be an increase in permanent residence fees every 2 years to account for inflation. IRCC has not clarified whether this policy will be temporary or permanent.
